VNBTrust is comprised of a team bringing together investment professionals with decades of collective experience in traditional investment management and hedge fund environments, with particular emphasis in equity and distressed-debt analysis.

Management Team

Timothy S. Mullen
Timothy S. Mullen is the senior investment and portfolio manager for VNBTrust, N.A. and the former Trust Division of Virginia National Bank. He has held this position since inception.  In addition to his management responsibilities for VNBTrust, Mr. Mullen researches investment opportunities and manages portfolios for certain clients of VNBTrust.  From 1993 until mid 1998, Mr. Mullen was the head of research and a partner of S & E Partners, the General Partner of Scoggin Capital Management, L.P., a mid-sized hedge fund specializing in event-driven investments. From 1991 to 1993, Mr. Mullen worked as a research analyst and portfolio manager for J Goldman & Company, a mid-sized investment partnership specializing in event-driven investments and short-term trading strategies. From 1986 to 1991, Mr. Mullen worked as a research assistant and analyst for two investment partnerships, Victor Teicher and Co. and Bernard Laterman and Co. These firms specialized in merger arbitrage, bankruptcy-related and other event driven value investments. Mr. Mullen received the BA degree in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia in 1985. He attended UVa on a full athletic scholarship and was a member of the varsity basketball team. He earned the MBA degree from Columbia University in 1990.
Mark A. Meulenberg
Mark A. Meulenberg, CFA, is a portfolio manager for VNBTrust, N.A. a wholly owned subsidiary of Virginia National Bank.  He has held this position since January 2008.  In this capacity, Mr. Meulenberg researches investment opportunities and manages portfolios for certain clients of VNBTrust.   Immediately prior to joining VNBTrust, Mr. Meulenberg ran the long/short public equity portfolio for a multi-strategy hedge fund in Charlotte, NC.  From 2000 until 2007, Mr. Meulenberg was a senior portfolio manager with Brown Brothers Harriman & Co.  He had approximately $250 million in assets under his management in this role.  In addition to his responsibilities as a senior portfolio manager, Mr. Meulenberg was a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee for three years and served as Chairman of the Committee until his departure.  In this role, Mr. Meulenberg was one of three investment managers within the firm with direct responsibility for the firm’s $13 billion in equity investments.  Prior to joining Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., Mr. Meulenberg worked for U.S. Trust Company in their Garden City, NY office as a Portfolio Manager.  Mr. Meulenberg began his career in money management with Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Inc. where he was named “Employee of the Year” in 1996 in their Southern Regional office and left the firm as an Associate Portfolio Manager. Mr. Meulenberg graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Applied Economics and Business Management in 1993. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Institute and the New York Society of Securities Analysts.
Jonathan Rheuban
Jonathan Rheuban is a research analyst at VNBTrust, N.A.  His responsibilities include idea generation and due diligence throughout the event-driven strategy.  Jonathan joined the VNBTrust team in 2010 from JR Research Associates, a privately-owned independent research provider. Jonathan has previously worked as a summer analyst for a statistical arbitrage fund, where his primary responsibilities included researching how major mergers affected underlying business fundamentals of the acquiring companies.  Jonathan graduated from the University of Virginia where he was a founding analyst in the event-driven segment of a student-run hedge fund, OAIC.  Jonathan double majored in finance and music and received a BS from the McIntire School of Commerce in 2009.
Daniel P. Goodall
Daniel P. Goodall is a Trust and Investment Officer for VNBTrust, N.A. He joined VNBTrust in July 2010, transferring from Virginia National Bank (VNB), VNBTrust's parent company. From 2004 to 2010, he served as a Managing Director and Senior Vice President at VNB. In this capacity, Mr. Goodall managed a commercial and private banking loan portfolio of over $50 million, was a member of the Executive Management Team, managed one of VNB's banking offices, and oversaw the development, construction, and leasing of VNB's 43,000 square foot headquarters building on Pantops in Charlottesville. Prior to joining VNB, Mr. Goodall worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, performing financial analysis for senior Department of Defense officials. Mr. Goodall began his career as an engineer with the Clorox Company in New Jersey. Mr. Goodall is a member of the executive committee of the board of the United Way - Jefferson Area, and a director of the Charlottesville Police Department Foundation. A native of Virginia, Mr. Goodall received a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1997 and a MS degree in Engineering Management from Drexel University in 1999. He earned an MBA degree from the University of Virginia's Darden School in 2004.

Compliance & Administrative Support  

Philip O. Garland - Senior Fiduciary Compliance Officer
Philip O. Garland is the Senior Fiduciary Compliance Officer of VNBTrust N.A. He has been at VNB  since April 2006 in anticipation of the formation of the Trust Bank.  Mr. Garland received a BS in 1984 from James Madison University and his JD from the University of Richmond in 1990.
Nancy Jorge - Chief Trust Administrator
Nancy Jorge is the Chief Trust Administrator for VNBTrust N.A. She joined Tim Mullen at Virginia National Bank in February 2000.   Nancy has 20 years of Trust experience.  Prior to going into banking she worked on Wall Street for 8 years with various brokerage firms.
Kristin C. Mitchell - Trust Administrator
Kristin C. Mitchell is a Trust Administrator for VNBTrust N.A. She joined VNB in June 2005.  She received her AB from Randolph Macon Woman’s College in 1992 and an MBA from the University of Richmond in 1997.

Jonathan J. Foltz - Investment Officer
Jonathan J. Foltz, is an investment officer for VNBTrust, N.A.   He joined VNBTrust in September 2010.  In this capacity, Mr. Foltz researches investment opportunities and manages portfolios for clients of VNBTrust and serves as a contact for client relationships in the Winchester office.   Immediately prior to joining VNBTrust, Mr. Foltz was a portfolio manager with BB&T Wealth Management in Winchester, VA with approximately $250 million in assets under his management in this role.  Prior to joining BB&T, Mr. Foltz worked for F&M Trust Company in their Winchester, VA office as a portfolio manager from 1999 until 2001. Mr. Foltz graduated from Radford University with a BA in Finance in 1998. He is a finance committee member for the Free Medical Clinic of the Northern Shenandoah Valley.
Stephanie E. Fincham - Trust Officer
Stephanie Fincham joined VNBTrust, N.A. in September 2010 as a Trust Officer with the Winchester Team.  Prior to VNBTrust, she administered approximately $180 million in assets as a Trust Officer with BB&T Wealth Management.  From 1984 to 1998 she worked at Jefferson National Bank holding various positions that included operations, banking, and trust.  Her experience encompasses settling estates, trust administration, and IRA administration.  She attended Southeastern Trust School at Campbell University in North Carolina.

Leslie B. Disharoon
Leslie B. Disharoon retired in December 1988 as Chairman, President, and CEO of Monumental Corporation, a life insurance company, where he was employed from 1977 to 1988.  Mr. Disharoon was affiliated with Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. from 1960 to 1977 serving as General Agent, Vice President, and Senior Vice President. In the past he has served as a director of The Travelers Insurance Company, Citigroup, Preston Corporation, GRC International, First National Bank, Constellation Holdings, Inc., Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., Mercantile Hedge Funds, Mercantile Funds, Inc., and Aegon, USA, Inc. He previously served on the board at Virginia National Bank, as Board Chairman of Goucher College and Johns Hopkins Health System Endowment Inc. and was a director on the boards of Johns Hopkins Hospital, Garrison Forest School, Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, and the Virginia Athletic Foundation. Mr. Disharoon earned a BA from Brown University in 1954 and an MBA from Columbia University in 1956.
William D. Dittmar, Jr.
William D. Dittmar, Jr. is President and Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Holdings, Inc., the parent company for various real estate and commercial property subsidiaries.  Mr. Dittmar is now Chairman of the Board at Virginia National Bank.  He has also been involved in several real estate development projects including Enterprise Properties, LLC, D&D Partnership, Watson Manor Group, and JBC Limited Partnership.  He graduated from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. in 1974; pursued a graduate degree at the University of Virginia 1975-1978; and qualified for the Virginia Bar in 1986.  Mr. Dittmar is the Bank's "audit committee financial expert," has an extensive business background as a corporate executive, real estate executive and project manager, and is well-versed in economic issues. 
Mark T. Giles - Chairman
Mark T. Giles is the Chairman of VNBTrust.   He is the sole managing member of Panda Holdings, LLC, a Virginia limited liability company that makes private investments.  Mr. Giles serves on the boards of the Thomas Jefferson Area United Way; the Computers4Kids Program; and the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce; and serves on the board and finance committee of Martha Jefferson Hospital.  Mr. Giles previously served as the CEO and later Chairman of Virginia National Bank, president of two publicly-traded bank holding companies and subsidiary banks in Texas, and practiced law with the banking group of a Houston law firm.  In 1977, Mr. Giles received a BS degree from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.  Mr. Giles received a JD degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1980.  Mr. Giles brings a proven record of successful bank management to the company, along with a broad knowledge of the banking industry.
Dana L. Harris
Dana Lightsey Harris currently serves as the Vice Chairman of both Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation and Piedmont CASA Board of Directors.  She has served as a Director of the Music Resource Center and American Shakespeare Center.  Mrs. Harris was the Founder and Co-Chair of the Family Advisory Committee at Martha Jefferson Hospital.  She worked as a development officer at the World Affairs Council and Town School for Boys in San Francisco and for the Curry School at the University of Virgnia and Piedmont CASA in Charlottesville. Mrs. Harris was graduated from Hamilton College in 1990.
James T. Holland
James T. Holland currently serves as  Chairman of VNB-Winchester’s advisory board and Vice Chairman of Valley Health System. In 1999 he retired as President, Chief Executive Officer and director of O’Sullivan Corporation, a manufacturing company, in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Holland is a director of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and Valley Physician Enterprises and a trustee of the Glass-Glen Burnie Foundation. He is also a former Chairman and director of the Virginia Business Council and the Virginia Foundation for Economic Education and a former trustee of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges. Mr. Holland is the author of “Moneybags”, a mystery-thriller. He received a BA from the University of Virginia in 1962, earned an MBA from American University in 1969, and was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in 1996 by Marymount University.
David L. King
David L. King is the owner of King Family Vineyards, LLC in Crozet, Virginia.  From 1989 until 1995 he was General Counsel for MC Management and Development, Inc. in Houston, Texas.  Prior to that position he did corporate litigation work for Bonham, Carrington and Fox also in Houston.  Mr. King served on the Board of Directors and Loan Committee of West Loop Savings and Loan from 1989 to 1993.  He is currently on the Board of Directors of MC Management and Development and is Chairman of both the Virginia Wine Board and Virginia Winery Distribution Company.   A 1977 graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, he earned his JD in 1981 from the University of Texas.
Irving L. Kron, MD
Irving L. Kron, MD is the Steven Watts Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia Hospital, a position he has held since 2001. He has served as Chair, Surgery Council, American Heart Association, Chief, Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, the William H. Muller, Jr. Professor of Surgery, University of Virginia Hospital, Director of Cardiopulmonary Transplantation, and Chief, Section of Vascular Surgery.  He is the recipient of numerous peer awards from medical associations and organizations. He is president elect of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery.  Dr. Kron received a BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1971 and his MD in 1975 from the Medical College of Wisconsin
Paula F. Newcomb
Paula F. Newcomb is president of VNBTrust, N.A. She joined VNB in February 2006 in anticipation of the formation of VNBTrust.  From 1993 to 2004, she served as Director of Development and Public Affairs for the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the private non-profit organization that owns and operates Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. She was Vice President for Development and University Relations at the University of Redlands from 1986 until the end of 1991. Mrs. Newcomb spent the first nine years of her development career at St. Lawrence University.   She was a director and Chairman of Piedmont CASA and a founding director of Charlottesville Tomorrow.  She is a member of the Focused Ultrasound Surgery Foundation Council and a CASA volunteer. A native of Denver, Colorado, she received her AB from Franklin and Marshall College in 1977.
Glenn W. Rust
Glenn W. Rust is Chief Executive Officer and President of Virginia National Bank.  He joined the Bank in November, 2006.  From 1996 to 2006, he served as an Executive Vice President of Sterling Bank, a financial institution based in Houston, Texas, and was a member of its board of directors.  Mr. Rust was Chief Operations Officer at Sterling Bank from 2002 to 2006, with responsibility for revenue departments such as retail banking and treasury management.  From 1996 to 2002, he served as Chief Information Officer for Sterling Bank.  He also served as President of the Bankruptcy Trustee Division of Sterling.  Mr. Rust brings wide-ranging executive bank management experience to the Bank, and expertise in successfully managing growth opportunities.
